Pediatric and Children’s Dentistry for Life Long Dental Health

pediatric dentistry

Not all dentists accept children in their dental office, but at Port Washington Dental Care we provide dental care for the whole family, including pediatric dentistry. It is important to start dental care for your child from an early age. Regular dental visits from an early age prevents children from developing dental anxiety later in life. Your child will also be less likely to experience cavities, tooth decay or other problems with consistent preventative care. Experience preventative dental care for the whole family when you visit Dr. Katechis, our pediatric and children’s dentist.

The Advantages of Pediatric Dentistry

When you begin bringing your child to the dentist from an early age, they will get used to coming to the dentist and will not associate it with pain or fear. This is the first step to a long life of healthy teeth. When a child’s first experience to the dentist is because they have a problem, they will then associate going to the dentist with having a painful or uncomfortable time. With regular cleanings from childhood, not only will your child associate the dentist with positive thoughts, but dental problems will be less likely to occur with preventative care.

Another advantage of pediatric dentistry is it allows the dentist to catch problems early on. Your child might have dental problems that can be costly down the line if not addressed early. To save your wallet and your child from severe dental problems, take pediatric and children’s dentistry seriously. Your child will thank you later.

Your Child’s First Visit

We recommend children ages 3 and up begin visiting us regularly for cleanings and complete dental exams to prevent any future problems from occurring in their dental health. During their first appointment, your child might seem a little fearful. We can show them around our office and let them look at the instruments and do everything possible to make sure they are as comfortable as possible. You are more than welcome to sit in the exam room during the appointment as well if that makes your child more comfortable. Once the child begins to see us a regularly, they will stop showing fear and start showing excitement for their regular dental exams. We can also help your child with any restorative or cosmetic needs.
